Extensive performance testing facilities available

Concepts NREC operates extensive performance testing facilities to validate the operating specifications and design objectives of pumps, compressors, and turbines. Each of these facilities can adapt to a wide variety of requirements for evaluating both scale-model prototypes and full-dimension turbomachinery components and complete machines.

Wide range of testing facilities

Test cells at both Concepts NREC facilities are available for the operation of machinery systems and include drives up to 3,000 hp. To ensure mechanical integrity, high-speed rigs are capable of testing up to 200,000 rpm. A specialized facility is used for testing pumps. These laboratories contain complete instrumentation from standard pneumatic and thermal probes to more sophisticated hot-film anemometers, laser velocimeters, high-frequency pressure transducers, strain gauge telemetry, and proximity probes, plus a data-acquisition system that accurately reports test results.

Flow, pressure, temperature, and force measurements

Concepts NREC has developed unique rigs for determining the forces and moments on rotating impellers, bearings, seals, couplings, and other components. These rigs provide a full suite of flow, pressure, temperature, and force measurements for an accurate characterization of performance and rotordynamic characteristics. Magnetic bearings precisely control the position and vibration of the component being tested, while documenting the fluid forces created either by movement or the operating load.
