STRESSPREP

This program provides flexible parametric modeling of radial and mixed-flow compressor and pump impellers plus radial turbine wheels, and is directly integrated with AxCent®, Concepts NREC’s 3D design and flow analysis program.

The right model for the job

The STRESSPREP solid-element model is built with a detailed brick element mesh including disk, shroud, blade, and fillets, and supports complex geometries, including front and rear counterbores, balance rings, and variable fillet radii.

Modeling

STRESSPREP generates complete ready-to-run FEA models. After building a model mesh, material properties, boundary conditions, and loading are then applied.

Submodeling

Users can also locally refine the mesh in a specified region using the newly developed submodeling feature.

Support of other programs

STRESSPREP supports a variety of popular FEA packages, including ANSYS® , NASTRAN™, COSMOS/M®, and ABAQUS®.

User-friendly features

STRESSPREP is directly integrated into AxCent to take full advantage of its powerful and flexible 3D OpenGL viewer for all models. Flexible meshing options are provided for STRESSPREP's structured grid, with user-controllable mesh density for optimum element distribution. Postprocessing options include Campbell, Goodman, and interference diagrams. Integration with AxCent also allows the user to obtain blade geometry and thermal and pressure loads from streamline curvature or CFD.

New FEA solver

A new Concepts NREC FEA solver is embedded in the STRESSPREP / AxCent package for fast and accurate calculations of stress levels.  High-quality plotting and tabular output of the solver results provide the user with an efficient means to evaluate the stress level early in the design process. The solver provides highly accurate and fast results at a fraction of the price of most commercial packages.
