RITAL supports these components:

Design Wizard Technology
RITAL's unique Design Wizards lead the user step-by-step through the design, analysis, or data reduction process.

Modeling
RITAL has built-in models for inlet volutes, rotor and nozzle diffusion/losses, disk friction, and other fundamental phenomena of sub-sonic turbine performance. The same consistent model is used in all three modes of RITAL, i.e., design, analysis, and data reduction modes.

Also included in RITAL are the extensive loss models previously available in the RITDAP code. The models in the RITDAP solver allow analysis of both sub-sonic and super-sonic turbines.

True-Scaled Meridional View of Stage
The turbine stage is shown in a true-scaled view. Parameters for different components can be entered easily by double-clicking on the appropriate component in the active meridional view.

Integrated Performance Map Plotting
Powerful and flexible plotting of performance maps allows quick review of performance and comparison of multiple designs or analyses versus test data. Maps are updated automatically with any geometry change.

Tabular View of Results
Results may be viewed in a flexible spreadsheet-like tabular view. Tables are customizable through separate "filters." Users can create any number of filters, selecting what to display as well as customizing the labels.

Axial View with Velocity Triangles
Blade angles and velocity triangles may be viewed both at the rotor inlet and exit.

OLE Automation Support
Control of RITAL can be accomplished from an external program through industry-standard Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) automation. Full control of data entry, program execution, and result retrieval is supported through OLE automation. External programs can be written in Visual Basic, C++, FORTRAN, or any other language which supports the Microsoft® OLE standard.

Report Generator
A powerful report generator is built into RITAL, allowing users to combine RITAL tables, text and plots to create standard and custom reports using a flexible template approach.

RITAL is a Real Fluid Program
Real Fluid properties can be calculated in RITAL using the optional DB Robinson Real Fluid property routines. Users can also incorporate their own proprietary fluid properties. Also included is the option to use water for analysis of hydraulic turbines.

Direct Integration with AxCent ®
The user can start AxCent automatically from within RITAL, with initial geometry transferred automatically to AxCent for geometry generation, rapid loading analysis, through-flow analysis, and output to CFD and FEA programs. Changes in AxCent which affect the meanline analysis will cause the meanline analysis to be rerun and all performance maps to be regenerated.

Output to AxCent
RITAL supports the Agile EngineeringSM process through easy transfer of meanline design information to the AxCent program for geometry generation, rapid loading analysis, throughflow analysis, and output to CFD and FEA programs.
