Turbomachinery Aerodynamics Engineer (VT)

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking an exceptional Aerodynamic Turbomachinery Engineer to develop turbomachinery designs for radial and axial compressors, pumps and turbines. The ideal candidate should have a Master’s or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, and minimum 3 years of experience in turbomachinery aerodynamics.

As an Aerodynamic Turbomachinery Engineer at Concepts NREC, you will:

  • Perform several clean-sheet turbomachinery design projects at a time. Example turbomachine design projects include fuel pumps for the next-generation rocket turbo pumps, gas turbine engines, advanced diffuser technology, innovative turbocharger technology, modular hydroturbines and more.
  • Work with a team of world-class experts in turbomachinery and highly capable support staff in other business units.
  • Apply engineering principles in statics, dynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and mechanical design to aid in the development of turbomachinery hardware, and other specialized products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or contribute to the aerodynamics design of turbomachinery systems using a combination of advanced meanline and CFD tools.
  • Collaborate with other engineering staff to design, build and test turbomachinery systems.
  • Work with customers to ensure our services meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Responsible for completing engineering projects on schedule and within budget.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent, PhD in the field of fluid dynamics preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in the field of turbomachinery design/analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of CFD tools to analyze compressible and/or incompressible fluids
  • Ability to perform mechanical analysis using FEA tools is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to drive change, manage conflict, and achieve results
  • Must be US citizen or US permanent resident.

Machinist II

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a Machinist with experience in CAM systems and 5-axis milling. The qualified candidate will have the ability to interpret prints/drawings, program from models or prints, determine work holding/fixturing methods, use various measuring equipment to verify part dimensions and set-up and operate lathes, mills and 5-axis mills proficiently.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studies features and specifications from blueprint, sketch and/or model to determined dimensions and tolerances of part to be machined
  • Interrogates part, looking for any obstacles in the manufacturing of the part
  • Determines sequence of operations, tools and materials need to complete the job
  • Adeptly writes programs both at the machine and using a CAM system using up to 5 axis.
  • Sets up and operates machines such as CNC lathes & milling machine also the ability to operate manual machines when needed.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Applies mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Accurately records time spent on specific jobs or other activities during the week.
  • Adheres to ISO inspection processes

Required Skills

  • Ability to foresee problems with manufacturability and determine processes to overcome these problems.
  • Knowledge of G-Code is essential
  • Excellent blueprint reading
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, and height gauge.
  • Ability to set up fixturing, select tooling, and measuring equipment to validate compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in close tolerance machining.
  • Ability to operate equipment and make adjustments.
  • Capacity to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards.
  • Basic ability to operate computers

Education:
High School Diploma or GED / Trade or Technical Certification
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience

  • Demonstrated project management skills and 5 years’ experience leading technical projects in a R&D prototyping environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more technical areas of turbomachinery design, such as aerodynamics, structural mechanics, rotordynamics and/or mechanical design.

Software Sales Associate 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing sales  proposals  and  quotations,  including  software  line  items, scope of work,  project  timing,  and  internal  cost  estimates  in  close  collaboration  with  the relevant Sales Managers and appropriate Business Unit personnel.
  • Ensuring sales management is provided with regular sales reports (verbal or written) and realistic forecasts for expected sales.
  • Managing Requests  for  Proposals  (RFP's),   quotations,  forecasts,  and  purchase  orders

(PO's) from software resellers and partners.

  • Working with  Sales  Managers  and  marketing  staff  to  keep  the  Customer  Relationship Management (CRM) system up to date, and using the CRM to provide reports and forecasts needed by Sales Managers
  • Updating pricing sheets and software sales process documents as appropriate.
  • Assisting with  review  of  press  releases,  advertisements,   sales  literature  and  related marketing materials as it relates to the appropriate Business.Unit.
  • Interacting with management, other internal Concepts NREC departments, sales staff, and outside vendors as needed to achieve objectives as a key member of the Concepts NREC sales team.
  • Assisting with maintaining and updating Concepts NREC's IS09001  and AS9100 quality management system sales procedures.

Various other sales related tasks as assigned.

Product Control Manager

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a Production Control Manager.

Reporting to Concepts NREC's President of Engineering and Products, this individual will be responsible for all order fulfillment activities for Machined Parts and Dyno Products. Develops & maintains the Master Production Schedule and provides the organization with leadership and direction as needed to meet schedule commitments and support customer requirements. They will work closely with the software development group to define product release requirements.

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field is required. Previous experience managing production or supply chains in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a low-volume/high-mix capacity is desired, as well as demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to succeed in a technical environment.

Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager is responsible for product development planning and execution, from initial market assessment through development and ultimate delivery of products and services to clients.

The PDM will take a lead role in establishing and executing overall company product development strategy. The PDM will hold responsibility for managing and supporting both internal development projects and external projects with ultimate delivery of products to clients. The PDM’s responsibilities will also include developing business plans for existing Concepts NREC markets (Air Dynamometers, Rocket Turbopumps, and Machined Parts) as well as assessing and developing solutions for new market segments.

This position requires an individual with strong technical abilities, interpersonal skills, and business acumen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess market needs, understand the competitive landscape, and develop effective product development plans to address market assessments
  • Work closely with clients to identify customer needs, address technical opportunities and challenges, and develop appropriate engineering and product solutions
  • Prepare and submit product development plans, including project budget, schedule, and definition of product functional requirements
  • Prepare and submit client proposals, including project pricing, schedule, and definition of technical scope
  • Manage multi-functional project teams, including Engineering and Production, in the execution of both internal development projects and external client deliverable projects
  • Provide sales and marketing support in the promotion of products and services
  • Establish a strong understanding of key clients, markets, and programs
  • Develop bookings and sales forecasts based on current contracts and future opportunities
  • Participate in program launches and reviews to ensure product and client requirements are met

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline required, MBA desirable.
  • Strong strategic planning, business, and project management skills required.
  • Experience in product development, project management, or proposal development in a complex technical industry required. Turbomachinery industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or business development in a complex technical industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
