CAE Applications Engineer (VT)

The CAE Applications Engineer will be responsible for supporting and promoting Concepts NREC’s Agile Engineering Design System® suite of turbomachinery design software to current and prospective clients.

Reporting to our Associate Director of CAE Product Management, the successful Applications Engineer will have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1-3 years of direct applications engineering experience using engineering design software. An additional 1-3 years of engineering design and analysis experience, with specific focus on turbomachinery, is preferred. This position will require global travel up to 25% of working time.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assume role as the primary technical contact for the CAE software product suite
  • Assist regional sales managers with technical support activities throughout the sales cycle, including demonstrations, presentations, trial license/evaluation training and mentoring
  • Create and utilize a rigorous suite of design cases for each product as part of regular QA testing on beta, maintenance, and release versions of the codes
  • Create videos, tutorials, and exercises for CAE software features and enhancements
  • Maintain a library of presentations that sufficiently demonstrate the capabilities of each code
  • Verify and test bug fixes and product enhancements
  • Perform technical validation for customers to aid in their purchase decisions
  • Assist in product development by gathering and organizing customer feedback
  • Support customer training activities such as design software workshops
  • Stay up-to-date with our competitor's strengths & weaknesses
  • Compile technical knowledge-based articles from software support database
  • Write technical articles. FAQ’s, best practices, and blog posts to supplement existing documentation regarding our products
  • Perform other qualified tasks as directed by the Associate Director when necessary

Machinist I (VT)

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a Machinist in our White River Junction, VT location. The candidate should be able to set up and operate lathes and mills proficiently, interpret blueprints and drawings, and program lathes and 3 Axis machine centers using CAM systems, as well as at the machine. He or she will also determine work holding/fixturing methods and be able to hold tight dimension tolerances using various measuring equipment and use various measuring equipment to verify part dimensions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studies features and specifications from blueprint, sketch and/or model to determined dimensions and tolerances of part to be machined
  • Determine sequence of operations, tools, materials need to complete the job
  • Determine work holding/fixturing methods
  • Ability to write programs both at the machine and using a cam system
  • Sets up and operates machines such as CNC lathes & milling machine also the ability to operate manual machines when needed
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring instruments
  • Applies mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriate. • Adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Accurately records time spent on specific jobs or other activities during the week.
  • Adheres to ISO inspection processes 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of G-Code is essential
  • Excellent blueprint reading
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, and height gauge
  • Ability to set up fixturing, select tooling, and measuring equipment to validate compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in close tolerance machining
  • Ability to operate equipment and make adjustments
  • Capacity to evaluate information to determine
  • Five - 10 years' experience is required, as well as a high school diploma or equivalent

Senior Program Manager (VT)


Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a self-starting Senior Program Manager with industrial gas turbine experience to lead a large gas turbine design project in our White River Junction, VT location. The candidate must be generally familiar with industrial gas turbine design, and must have experience successfully running design programs involving teams in multiple locations.  The successful candidate will supervise a staff of project managers, and will be responsible for design delivery to the customer, as well as for keeping the project on time and on budget.  

15+ years’ experience desired, along with a Master’s degree or higher in Engineering.  Excellent leadership and communication skills are needed in this job.  Some domestic as well as overseas travel required.

Senior Turbomachinery/Software Engineer (VT)

We are seeking a Senior Turbomachinery/Software Engineer to work on software development for our CAE software, with an emphasis on meanline radial turbomachinery.

At least 5 years’ experience developing software and master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of turbomachinery design as well as software development experience. They will also have 5+ years of experience designing rotating fluid machinery, preferably multistage axial compressors and/or turbines for use in gas turbine engines.  In addition, the candidate should have a proven capability to develop software and a desire to continue his/her career as a software developer.

The applicant must possess good understanding of the physics and principles of turbomachinery aerodynamics and /or structural mechanics, creativity and problem-solving skills, a proven track record for technical excellence, practical approach and teamwork, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The applicant should have experience (academic or commercial) developing software for engineering applications.  Some combination of C++, FORTRAN, python, HTML/JavaScript is desired as well as software development in a team environment.

Product Development Test Engineer (VT)

The ideal candidate should have a mechanical engineering degree or relevant technical degree, and at least 5 years of experience with instrumentation and/or controls (temperature, pressure, rotating speed measurement, data acquisition systems, servo motor controls, etc.), as well as demonstrated management skills to lead hardware planning, assembly, and testing, utilizing the latest technologies. Hands-on practical experience with turbomachinery related products is a plus. Career path to Lab Manager.

As a Product Development Test Engineer at Concepts NREC, you will:

  • Work on several clean-sheet turbomachinery hardware projects at a time. Example prototype projects include fuel pumps for the next-generation rockets, gas turbine engine development rigs, advanced diffuser technology, innovative turbocharger technology, modular hydroturbines and more.
  • Work with a team of world-class experts in turbomachinery and highly capable support staff in other business units.
  • Apply engineering principles in statics, dynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and mechanical design to develop, build, and test experimental hardware, and specialized products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • BS in mechanical engineering.
  • Demonstrated management skills and experience leading technical projects in a R&D prototyping environment
  • 5 years of experience with instrumentation and/or controls.
  • Hands-on experience with building/testing/troubleshooting turbomachinery is a plus.

Territory Sales Manager

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design and development organization is seeking a Territory Sales Manager. The initial focus would be a territory within the Americas, with the possibility of a transition to additional or new geographies over time.

Candidate must have experience in turbomachinery design or development and possess the requisite skills to build a high performing sales presence in the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitable growth and will help establish a mature sales pipeline for our products, which include turbomachinery design software, engineering services, and manufactured parts. The candidate will have the opportunity to cover all these turbomachinery areas.

The successful candidate will need to be a team player with strong organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is a must and a working familiarity with HubSpot is preferred. An ideal background includes past technical and sales experience in software and engineering services.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a MS or equivalent advanced engineering degree highly desired. A technical foundation in turbomachinery, with a solid basis in business fundamentals is required. 5+ years of relevant sales experience is strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to travel (up to 30%) in the Americas.

The White River Junction office is the preferred location for this candidate, but others will be considered.
