Machinist II

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a Machinist with experience in CAM systems and 5-axis milling. The qualified candidate will have the ability to interpret prints/drawings, program from models or prints, determine work holding/fixturing methods, use various measuring equipment to verify part dimensions and set-up and operate lathes, mills and 5-axis mills proficiently.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studies features and specifications from blueprint, sketch and/or model to determined dimensions and tolerances of part to be machined
  • Interrogates part, looking for any obstacles in the manufacturing of the part
  • Determines sequence of operations, tools and materials need to complete the job
  • Adeptly writes programs both at the machine and using a CAM system using up to 5 axis.
  • Sets up and operates machines such as CNC lathes & milling machine also the ability to operate manual machines when needed.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Applies mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Accurately records time spent on specific jobs or other activities during the week.
  • Adheres to ISO inspection processes

Required Skills

  • Ability to foresee problems with manufacturability and determine processes to overcome these problems.
  • Knowledge of G-Code is essential
  • Excellent blueprint reading
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, and height gauge.
  • Ability to set up fixturing, select tooling, and measuring equipment to validate compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in close tolerance machining.
  • Ability to operate equipment and make adjustments.
  • Capacity to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards.
  • Basic ability to operate computers

Education:
High School Diploma or GED / Trade or Technical Certification
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience

Project Engineer

Project Engineer / Structural Analyst (VT)

Concepts NREC, the world’s leading independent, full-service turbomachinery design, development, research, and training organization is seeking a Project Engineer to lead our developmental turbomachinery projects, ranging from conceptual design to fabrication to testing. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, and 5 years of experience in structural analysis coupled with strong project management skills. This position will require nominally 50% project management and 50% technical contributions. Experience with rotating equipment is a plus.

As a Project Engineer / Structural Analyst at Concepts NREC, you will:

  • Lead and contribute to several clean-sheet turbomachinery projects at a time. Example prototype projects include fuel pumps for the next-generation rockets, gas turbine engine development rigs, advanced diffuser technology, innovative turbocharger technology, modular hydroturbines and more.
  • Work with a team of world-class experts in turbomachinery and highly capable support staff in other business units.
  • Apply engineering principles in statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical design to aid in the development, building, and testing of turbomachinery hardware, and specialized products.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent, MS preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in the field of mechanical engineering, specifically structural analysis. Proficiency in static, modal, vibration and life analysis is a must. Experience in turbomachinery is a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and 5 years’ experience leading technical projects in a R&D prototyping environment. Experience with ISO9001 and/or AS9100 is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing customer requirements and expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to drive change, manage conflict, and achieve results
  • Must be US citizen or US permanent resident.

Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager is responsible for product development planning and execution, from initial market assessment through development and ultimate delivery of products and services to clients.

The PDM will take a lead role in establishing and executing overall company product development strategy. The PDM will hold responsibility for managing and supporting both internal development projects and external projects with ultimate delivery of products to clients. The PDM’s responsibilities will also include developing business plans for existing Concepts NREC markets (Air Dynamometers, Rocket Turbopumps, and Machined Parts) as well as assessing and developing solutions for new market segments.

This position requires an individual with strong technical abilities, interpersonal skills, and business acumen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess market needs, understand the competitive landscape, and develop effective product development plans to address market assessments
  • Work closely with clients to identify customer needs, address technical opportunities and challenges, and develop appropriate engineering and product solutions
  • Prepare and submit product development plans, including project budget, schedule, and definition of product functional requirements
  • Prepare and submit client proposals, including project pricing, schedule, and definition of technical scope
  • Manage multi-functional project teams, including Engineering and Production, in the execution of both internal development projects and external client deliverable projects
  • Provide sales and marketing support in the promotion of products and services
  • Establish a strong understanding of key clients, markets, and programs
  • Develop bookings and sales forecasts based on current contracts and future opportunities
  • Participate in program launches and reviews to ensure product and client requirements are met

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline required, MBA desirable.
  • Strong strategic planning, business, and project management skills required.
  • Experience in product development, project management, or proposal development in a complex technical industry required. Turbomachinery industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or business development in a complex technical industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Up to 20% travel, primarily within the United States, Canada, and Western Europe
