Cooling and Secondary Flow Design: Enhancing Accuracy Through an Integrated Workflow

Presented by Mark Anderson, Chief Technology Officer

Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM EDT

2026 Webinar AFWERX Image

Join us for an introduction to the integrated cooling and secondary flow design and analysis capabilities in the Agile Engineering Design System®. This work was developed as part of a recently completed Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project sponsored by the Department of the Air Force through AFWERX.

In this webinar, we'll demonstrate how engineers can intentionally incorporate secondary flow paths into their designs, introduce the new labyrinth seal model researched, developed, and tested as part of this award, and follow a workflow from meanline design through 3D geometry in AxCent, CFD analysis, and cycle analysis in CTAADS.

What You'll Learn

  • The role of intentional secondary flow paths in turbomachinery design.
  • The capabilities of the new labyrinth seal model accounting for additional geometrical parameterization and applicable across fluid types.
  • How integrated cooling and secondary flow models connect from meanline design through 3D geometry, CFD, and cycle analysis.
  • The benefits of an integrated workflow for cooling and secondary flow design and analysis.

Who Should Attend

This webinar is designed for:

  • Turbomachinery and aerospace engineers
  • Aerodynamicists
  • Engineering and R&D teams
