Manufacturing Software Solutions

We provide the tools to take your design from digital to physical

Concepts NREC’s machining software solutions are industry-focused. By focusing our CAM software tools on specific challenges, we streamline the programming process so that you can spend less time behind a computer and start cutting metal sooner than you thought possible.

The future of turbomachinery design is here!

Concepts NREC is happy to announce that the transition of our design tools to the OMNIS platform is well underway! AXIAL, our axial turbine and compressor meanline design and analysis product, has already made the transition. In addition, much of the axial context of our flagship 3-D design product, AxCent®, has also been migrated to this new platform.

OMNIS will empower turbomachinery designers by leveraging the power of Concepts NREC and Cadence/NUMECA design & analysis tools to push the boundaries of performance and durability, all in a single interface.

Turbomachinery Manufacturing Solutions

Tap into 60+ years of turbomachinery experience with MAX-PAC™.

Manufacturing turbomachinery can be a challenging endeavor. Whether you want to flank mill a ruled blade to a mirror finish or use toroidal and barrel cutters to efficiently finish a turbine blade, we have a module to solve the challenges that are unique to these applications. These geometry-specific products allow you to configure your CAM system for any type of turbomachinery.

Input geometry is critical for producing high-quality toolpaths. That’s why our workflow starts with using CAD tools to prepare geometry and build a reliable and repeatable configuration.

From there it only takes a few clicks to generate an initial toolpath. Our collision avoidance algorithms do the hard work of orienting the tool so that you can focus on fine tuning to produce a toolpath that looks exactly the way you want it to.

As you build your operations, our integrated material removal and machine tool simulation tools enable you to further optimize your toolpaths so that you don’t waste valuable time on your machine.

Evaluating Manufacturability for Shrouded Impellers
by Ryan Lussier, CAM Software Product Manager
Design engineers are always looking for ways to push performance and efficiency. This can produce geometry which is challenging to machine and one of the first questions the manufacturing team needs to answer is, “Can we make this?” There are many factors at play here, such as machines, tools, processes, material, and the geometry itself, that come together to decide capability and feasibility. And sometimes very subtle changes in geometry can lead to massive improvements in manufacturability.

A Brief Overview of Adaptive Machining
by Ryan Lussier, CAM Software Product Manager
As engineers planning and designing with CAD/CAM tools, we are developing processes in a theoretical world. It isn’t until you put on your boots, get in front of the machine, and start letting chips fly that you can start to see the effects of reality. Many times, this will reveal some unexpected challenges that require unique tools to solve them.

Solving the Tool Orientation Problem for Machining Turbopumps
by Ryan Lussier, CAM Software Product Manager
Turbopumps pose many challenges when trying to manufacture high quality CNC toolpaths. They are often made of difficult to machine materials such as Inconel, have sharp leading edges, demanding tolerances, and it is tricky to find tool orientations that are safe and smooth – especially in the inducer section.
