Using CYCAL™ to Select a Fluid for an Air Conditioning Application

CYCAL™ is Concepts NREC’s proprietary 1D thermodynamic cycle calculation tool. This system-level product initiates the component design workflow by calculating the critical fluid property information required by downstream 1D and 3D Concepts NREC design tools such as COMPAL® and AxCent®.

This webinar will demonstrate the first stages of the design process for an HVAC compressor using CYCAL™. You will see how to lay out components and requirements, then calculate compressor design points for two different refrigerants. From there we will generate preliminary designs for these in COMPAL®, before returning to CYCAL™ to perform a preliminary check of off-design performance.

Additionally, you will see how secondary flows can be incorporated to model additional capabilities, such as cogeneration with extracted flow.
