MAX-PAC™ 2026.1: New Toolpath Capabilities and Workflow Improvements

pbCFD™ for Leakage Paths in Turbomachinery

Presented by Jim Loellbach, Senior CFD Software Engineer

Date: Wednesday, May 7, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT

2025_webinar_pbcfdUntil now, Concepts NREC's 3D flow solver, pbCFDTM, lacked the ability to analyze leakage paths in turbomachinery designs.  This is despite the ability to define such leakage paths in the AxCent® design software.  A significant upgrade to the pbCFD solver in the latest release includes the ability to analyze simple leakage paths.  This webinar will review the process of creating, analyzing, and postprocessing turbomachinery designs with leakage paths.  Examples of shroud and backface leakage paths with labyrinth seals will be shown.  We believe this upgrade will make pbCFD a more attractive choice for 3D turbomachinery analysis.

Topics:

  • Review of Leakage Path Capabilities in the Agile Engineering Design System®
  • Process of Creating Leakage Paths in AxCent
  • New AxCent Features for Leakage Paths and pbCFD
  • Example Results
